To Sydney

17 To Sydney (Wed. Feb. 18)

We are flying to Sydney today. As I think I mentioned, we do not leave until 10:30 AM. Today though is a beautiful day, sun is shining and temps are back in the mid 30's c (mid 90's f). Since we have considerable time after breakfast before the bus is here to take us to the airport, we go to the pool area and sit and read for about an hour or so. It is so nice by the pool and here in Cairns in general that we wish we had another couple of days here.

As we get to the airport, again we have a group check in. It is so much easier this way. It is still necessary for us to go through the security screening, but that goes by quickly. The flight is a little over two hours and we will be flying over the Great Barrier Reef. (The reef is like this for most of the flight down to Sydney.) We get to Sydney and find our bags and then board the bus. As always we will do a full day city tour around town and harbour cruise tomorrow we just head on our way to the hotel.

After getting to the hotel, we check in and look out our window. We are right at the harbour front. Carmen and I plan on going to a resturant (the Blackbird Cafe) with most everyone including Roubin. We make our way across a major roadway via a pedestrian walk and then walk around the harbor walk way. There are many store fronts, resturants and bars here at the walkway and it is very nice.

Carmen and I share a pizza, but Roubin has rare kangaroo and asks those around him if we want to tase it. Well, Dah! I have a piece and it is quite good. Tasty and the meat is sweeter then beef. Carmen has a diet coke and I have a Cascade Premium Ale; Jon it was good.

After dinner, Carmen and I set out to travel around the harbour lagoon and take some pictures. There are a number of art statues and fountains. One fountain is a spiral going down with many two-foot waterways and one pedestrian walkway making up the spiral. The walkway ends at a four-foot round platform. Makes you want to walk down and up again.
I take a couple of pictures and we then head back to the hotel since it is getting late.

Tomorrow we do a full City tour, go inside the Opera House, and then do a harbor tour. So, see you tomorrow; G'day Mates.
